PLW Lumber is a “Holding” company for a number of logging operations.

Puttman lumber company was formed as a real-estate holding company that maintained the large lumber tracts that were once owned by the Sheffield Lumber company.

People looking to have lumber harvested on their land would come to the Sheffield lumber mill and ask if they were interested in purchasing their lumber.  They were referred to Puttman Lumber.  Puttman Lumber would then evaluate, price and purchase the lumber for the mill from each of these sellers.

Over time, they developed a number of tracts of lumber that are used in rotation to continually supply Sheffield with lumber.  In addition, they work closely with the Forest Protection Agency (FPA) and the lumber tracts that they own.
